A day in the life: Using Algae to make Biodiesel!

It is pretty cool how you can make fuel out of just about anything with the correct science behind it. The biofuel from algae looks really cool.

Hey, I want one of those cars that runs off of this stuff. A buddy of mine in Atlanta put the biodiesel engine in his car and got 1800 miles on a tank.

No way! Was he running on straight vegetable oil or what?

Algae is better than corn for biodiesel due to the fact it can be fed with the same over-fertilized water that we spill into the Gulf of Mexico and every other major stream system. It doesn't need additional fertilizer (made from oil) like corn does. Algae can also be harvested year round. Lower the fertilizer spill off, convert sunlight into fuel, harvest year round. No wonder the government isn't putting more into this, it could actually impact the oil industry negatively.
