Have you ever sat at church and thought to yourself that person over there really gets this and they follow all of the rules.  How could I ever reach the level they’re at?  On the other hand have ... Continue reading »

  • I'm in with you Heath. This passage was speaking loud and was reinforcing what I'm speaking on this week. Mainly it was humbling me and reminding me who I am, and the nature that is really below the surface (or was below the surface until I was made new). I don't get to decide I'm better than anyone. I get to walk around remembering that Christ has redeemed me. Yes, I am victorious in Him as a sinner, but I cannot forget the depths from which He pulled me out.

  • Like you said, we heard it before, and then we hear it again. Someday I will listen and understand. But I will say, I am starting to get it. I know that I sin, just like anyone else. That my sin isn't any "better" or "worse" than the next guy... my sin is equal in God's eyes. And like you, I am sorry for thinking I am better in some way that someone else.

  • I think you really hit on a good point, we can't just read scripture once and say we have done that, check it off the list, what's next. The more times we read the same passages the more it sinks in, the more we can apply it to our lives, and the more we have the opportunity to use it when called upon. If we don't have the scriptures in our heart, how can we use them when we are called upon to do so.
  • Right. Good point. It's always helpful to remember this when, for example, I get angry with my husband because of this or that little thing. Who am I to go around getting angry at God's kids. Look what He's forgiven me!

    God Bless,

    Cindy
